It’s actually been a bit difficult finding websites that have Covid-19 historical data broken down by states and counties. It ended up being easier to load the NYTimes Covid19 dataset into a spreadsheet program and analyzing the data there.

I found untangling microservices to be a good read. I think there are different motivations to utilizing microservices and some are more sound than others. The article points out that simply breaking up a monolith into a microservice doesn’t reduce the overall complexity of the system even if it reduces local complexity. I think part of the issue is that we rightfully try to find ways to increase efficiency. We see local complexity and create a system that makes it easier to avoid that local complexity. This is fine as long as we understand the actual trade-offs being made.
